Allisha Gray and Naz Hillmon of the Atlanta Dream are being highlighted as leading candidates for major 2025 WNBA awards as the league’s season concludes. The organization is encouraging support for Gray in the Most Valuable Player (MVP) race and Hillmon for Sixth Player of the Year, citing their significant contributions throughout the season.

“Allisha Gray is delivering the best season of her career — and one of the most dominant in the WNBA this year,” a statement from the team reads.

Gray has averaged 18.7 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game this season. She leads the league in three-pointers made with 73, ranks fourth in total points at 543, and is second in win shares with 5.4. Her shooting percentages stand at 44.7% from the field and 40.8% from beyond the arc.

She started her year strong, scoring over 25 points in four of her first seven games, including a then-career-high of 28 points against Seattle before surpassing that mark with a 32-point performance against Washington on June 15. Gray has recorded seven games with at least 25 points and twelve games scoring at least twenty points.

Her all-around play includes her first double-double of the season—12 points and eleven rebounds versus Seattle—and a standout performance with a career-high seven three-pointers against Phoenix on August 1. Defensively and as a leader in the locker room, she continues to set an example for teammates.

Gray was named a starter for the WNBA All-Star Game this year and earned Eastern Conference Player of the Month honors for both May and June, becoming “the first Dream player ever to sweep back-to-back monthly honors, and just the second in team history with three consecutive All-Star selections.” She now ranks among Atlanta’s top six all-time leaders in both scoring and assists.

Naz Hillmon is also drawing attention for her impact off Atlanta’s bench: “No one shifts momentum off the bench like Naz Hillmon.”

Hillmon averages 8.6 points per game as a reserve while leading all WNBA bench players in plus-minus (+6.6) and ranking fifth overall across all players—a sign of her influence when on court. She tops Atlanta’s roster in net rating differential; when she plays, Atlanta outscores opponents by +13.7 per hundred possessions compared to -2.1 when she sits—a swing of +15.8.

She leads all WNBA players in two-point field goal percentage (.709) and holds second place league-wide in offensive rating (120.8). Notable performances include setting career highs with twenty-one points and five three-pointers at Dallas on July 30—hitting a game-winning shot with under three seconds remaining—as well as double-doubles against Washington totaling twenty-four points and twenty-four rebounds combined.

Hillmon earned her first start on August 1 but remains central to Atlanta’s success off the bench: “On July 13, she set a Dream franchise record with 128 consecutive games played, a mark now up to 136 — fifth-most among all active WNBA players.”

“This isn’t bias — it’s data,” states Atlanta Dream regarding their case for both award candidates.
