The Atlanta Falcons announced on May 7 the signing of cornerback Darren Hall to their roster. This marks Hall’s second tenure with the team after previously being drafted by Atlanta in the fourth round, pick number 108, of the 2021 NFL Draft.
Hall debuted professionally in Week 3 of his rookie season and played in 14 games that year, recording one sack, 27 tackles, and three passes defended. In his second season with Atlanta, he started nine games and appeared in all 17 contests. During that time, he accumulated 45 tackles, three passes defended, forced one fumble and recovered another.
After being waived by the Falcons in August 2023, Hall spent time on practice squads for both the Indianapolis Colts and Arizona Cardinals. He played college football at San Diego State University where he tied for the FBS lead in pass breakups during the 2019 season with sixteen.
As part of this roster move, safety Tysheem Johnson has been released by the organization.
The Atlanta Falcons are based in Atlanta, Georgia; they compete in the National Football League’s NFC South division and began as an expansion team in 1965 according to their official website. The franchise reached the Super Bowl twice—in both 1998 and again in 2016—and Freddie the Falcon serves as its mascot according to information from their official website.
This signing brings a familiar face back to a team looking to strengthen its defensive lineup ahead of upcoming seasons.
