Fairview Elementary School registered 22 white students for the 2024-25 school year, an increase of 37.5% compared to the prior year, data from the Georgia Department of Education shows.

According to the data, the total student body was 563 for the 2024-25 school year. White students represented 4% of total enrollment, ranking as the second-smallest demographic group at the school.

The school is part of Henry County School District, which has its central office in McDonough.

Within the Henry County School District’s 50 schools, Ola High School had the highest number of white students enrolled in 2024-25 with 703 students.

More than 1.7 million students attended Georgia’s public schools, according to the Georgia Department of Education’s Fiscal Year 2026-1 report. Enrollment was greatest in elementary grades at 787,206 students (45.9%), followed by high school with 539,092 students (31.4%), and middle school at 388,733 students (22.7%).

Chronic absenteeism remains a challenge for Georgia schools after the pandemic, with 20.7% of students missing at least 10% of the school days in 2024, according to data from the Georgia Department of Education. To address this, GaDOE introduced a new statewide initiative that features a real-time attendance dashboard, a public awareness program, and targeted support to high-need districts.

In 2025, state lawmakers updated Georgia’s attendance laws to prohibit expulsion solely for absenteeism. The legislation also implemented revised reporting standards and connected with alternative diploma programs.

By 2026, Georgia had achieved a student-to-teacher ratio of around 14:1, which outperforms the national average of 15:1.
