He stated “On this day in history in 1775, George Washington rode out in front of the troops in Massachusetts and drew his sword, formally taking command of the Continental Army.” This tweet highlights Washington’s background as a Virginia planter and veteran of the French and Indian War before he was appointed commander.

Mike Collins has been serving in Congress since replacing Jody Hice in 2023. Born in Jackson, Georgia in 1967, he graduated from Georgia State University with a BA in 1990.
