Rep. Mike Collins, who represents Georgia’s 10th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on July 22, 2025, addressing public concerns and media coverage surrounding Medicaid reforms proposed in President Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill.”

In his initial post, Collins stated: “The mainstream media has been lying about the Medicaid reforms in President Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill. Here are the facts. “ (July 22, 2025).

He followed with a clarification on spending: ” This bill ‘slashes’ Medicaid spending. All it does is slow the rate of spending growth. No reduction in spending.” (July 22, 2025).

Addressing claims about rural healthcare impacts, Collins wrote: ” Rural hospitals will be devastated. The OBBB will have a negligible effect on rural hospitals, and the bill secures $50 billion in aid for rural hospitals” (July 22, 2025).

Collins began serving as a member of Congress for Georgia’s 10th District in 2023 after succeeding Jody Hice. Born in Jackson, Georgia in 1967 and currently residing there at age 55, he graduated from Georgia State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1990.
