Rep. Mike Collins, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Georgia’s 10th district since 2023, shared his thoughts on historical events and current affairs through a series of tweets on June 13, 2025.

In a tweet posted at 11:57 AM UTC, Collins commemorated the arrival of Marquis de Lafayette in South Carolina in 1777. He stated that “On this day in history in 1777, Marquis de Lafayette arrived in South Carolina to join the fight against the British alongside General Washington.” He highlighted that despite King Louis XVI’s orders forbidding Lafayette’s departure to avoid angering Britain, Lafayette defied these orders and escaped arrest.

Later that day at 2:52 PM UTC, Collins expressed a strong stance regarding international relations with Iran. He asserted that “Iran’s existence is contingent on its enemies’ tolerance. They should tread lightly. This administration kills terrorists.”

At 4:16 PM UTC, Collins addressed misconceptions about firearm accessories by stating “‘Silencers’ are not dangerous. They actually make shooting safer for both the user and the environment.”

Collins was born in Jackson, Georgia in 1967 and graduated from Georgia State University with a BA in 1990. At age 55, he continues to reside in Jackson.
