Rep. Mike Collins, a U.S. Congressman representing Georgia’s 10th district since 2023, posted several messages on his Twitter account on May 8, 2026, covering topics from historical anniversaries to legislative initiatives and personal preferences.
On the morning of May 8, Collins reflected on the end of World War II in Europe. He wrote, “On this day in history in 1945, Germany surrendered to the Allies, marking Victory in Europe Day. However, the clashes between the Soviet Union and Germany continued until the next day. The celebration began in Moscow when Stalin announced on a radio broadcast, ‘Your courage'” (May 8, 2026).
Later that day, Collins made a lighthearted comment regarding a popular fast-food offering: “We need a resolution to make the Chick-fil-A peach milkshake available all year.” (May 8, 2026).
In another post that afternoon, Collins highlighted his legislative work focused on veterans’ health care. He stated, “I am proud to introduce the VORTEX Act to protect our Veterans from being overprescribed dangerous opioids. Our heroes protected us, now we can protect them by closing the prescription information gap between VA and community providers.” (May 8, 2026).
Collins has been serving as U.S. Representative for Georgia’s 10th district since replacing Jody Hice in January 2023 and was re-elected in both 2022 and 2024 with over sixty percent of the vote each time. Born in Jackson, Georgia in 1967 and currently residing there at age fifty-five, Collins graduated from Georgia State University with a BA in 1990.
