Rep. Mike Collins, currently serving Georgia’s 10th district in the U.S. Congress, shared a series of posts on social media reflecting on historical milestones and recent economic developments relevant to his state.
On August 13, 2025, Collins posted about a significant moment in Georgia’s history: “On this day in history in 1922, Georgia Governor Thomas Hardwick signed a law granting women the right to vote. Although the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, ratified in 1920, gave women the right to vote nationwide, Georgia was the first state to reject it. Strict”.
Later that day, Collins discussed his visit to Assembly Studios in Doraville, Georgia. He wrote on August 13: “Blockbuster visit to Assembly Studios in Doraville, GA today. Was great to meet with Hilton Howell, CEO of Gray Media, about this project. It was built using only materials and businesses in Georgia, including granite from Elberton. The following morning, on August 14, Collins marked another historical event: “On this day in history in 1937, the Appalachian Trail was officially completed with over 2,200 miles of hiking trails across 14 states.
The trail was first proposed in 1921 to create a trail that connected farms and wilderness work camps throughout the Appalachian Mountains”.
Collins has represented Georgia’s 10th district since replacing Jody Hice in 2023 and has secured election victories against Tabitha Johnson-Green in 2022 and Lexy Doherty in 2024. In these races he received over sixty percent of the vote each time.
