Rep. Mike Collins, a U.S. Congressman representing Georgia’s 10th district since 2023, posted several messages on August 11, 2025, reflecting on historical events and sharing his views on political discourse.
In a tweet posted at 11:33 a.m., Collins noted the anniversary of Alcatraz’s opening as a federal penitentiary. He wrote, “On this day in history in 1934, the nation’s most dangerous criminals arrived at Alcatraz.
Converted into a maximum-security federal penitentiary in 1934, Alcatraz held notorious criminals such as Al Capone, George “Machine Gun” Kelly, and Robert Stroud, the “Birdman of https://t.co/whUb3s2f6q“.
Later that day at 3:46 p.m., Collins shared another message stating simply “Liberation day! https://t.co/jS0ehNH1rS”.
At 5:19 p.m., he commented on political analysis and expertise by posting “The “nonpartisan experts” are so often just political hacks. https://t.co/ipwE9I0tUn”.
Collins has been serving in Congress since replacing Jody Hice in 2023. He was re-elected in both the 2022 and 2024 general elections with significant margins over his opponents Tabitha Johnson-Green and Lexy Doherty respectively.
