Rep. Mike Collins, currently serving Georgia’s 10th district in the U.S. Congress, marked historical anniversaries and celebrated local industry achievements in a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter) on August 22 and 23, 2025.
On August 22, Collins referenced a pivotal event from three decades ago: “On this day in history in 1992, the infamous Ruby Ridge standoff continued. Randy Weaver and his family lived atop a mountain in remote Ruby Ridge, Idaho. Weaver was targeted by the government after selling two sawed-off shotguns to an Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearm (ATF)”.
The following day, he noted another major historical milestone: “On this day in history in 1943, the Battle of Kursk, the largest tank battle in warfare history, ends after 50 days. The Battle of Kursk, fought in southwestern Russia, was a major clash between Germany and the Soviet Union, culminating in a Soviet victory. This battle…”.
In addition to commemorating historical events, Collins recognized industrial achievement within his home state on August 23: “Congratulations to @LockheedMartin’s C-130J Super Hercules for winning the @GAChamber’s ‘Coolest Thing Made In Georgia’ award this year. Keep it up!”
Collins has represented Georgia’s 10th congressional district since replacing Jody Hice in 2023. He secured his seat by defeating Tabitha Johnson-Green in the 2022 general election with over sixty percent of the vote and won re-election against Lexy Doherty in 2024 with a similar margin.
