Rep. Mike Collins, who represents Georgia’s 10th district in the U.S. Congress after succeeding Jody Hice in 2023, posted a series of tweets reflecting on historical and political events between August 7 and August 8, 2025.

On August 7, Collins commemorated the anniversary of the Purple Heart’s creation by George Washington during the Revolutionary War. He wrote, “On this day in history in 1782, George Washington created the Purple Heart during his time as the commander in chief of the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War. Later that day, Collins commented on census policy and congressional representation: “It is obvious that illegal aliens should not be counted in the census or affect how congressional districts are drawn.” (August 7).

On August 8, Collins addressed actions taken by President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris regarding former President Donald Trump: “On this day in history in 2022, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris weaponized the Justice Department to raid President Trump’s home, staged evidence, and illegally appointed a special prosecutor to try and put their political opponent in jail. Collins has maintained a significant presence within Georgia politics. In both 2022 and 2024 general elections he won with over sixty percent of votes against Tabitha Johnson-Green and Lexy Doherty respectively.
