Rep. Mike Collins, who represents Georgia’s 10th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of historical reflections and religious quotes on his social media accounts over the weekend.
On August 9, 2025, Collins noted the anniversary of President Richard Nixon’s resignation, posting: “On this day in history in 1974, President Richard Nixon became the first and only president of the United States to resign from office. In 1972, the Watergate Scandal became the most infamous political cover-up when the Democratic National Committee headquarters was robbed, and https://t.co/8ZnjbdzxdY”.
The following day, on August 10, Collins shared a biblical passage: “‘In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.’ — John 1:1”.
Later that same day, he referenced an unusual event from recent American history: “On this day in history in 2018, 28-year-old Richard Russell — remembered as ‘Sky King’ — borrowed an airplane from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport for a joyride before crashing into a remote island. Collins has served as U.S. Representative since replacing Jody Hice in 2023. He secured re-election victories in both 2022 and 2024—defeating Tabitha Johnson-Green and Lexy Doherty respectively—with significant margins each time.
