Rep. Mike Collins, currently serving Georgia’s 10th district in the U.S. Congress, shared a series of posts on his Twitter account reflecting on historical events and issues within the trucking industry.
On August 24, 2025, Collins referenced the anniversary of former President Donald J. Trump’s mugshot taken in Fulton County in 2023. He wrote: “On this day in history in 2023, former President Donald J. Trump flew to Fulton County to have this photo taken by an absolutely bush league, corrupt prosecutor, aka Nathan Wade’s side piece. This photo became the most famous mugshot on the planet, joining the ranks of many” (August 24, 2025).
The following day, Collins highlighted a milestone in space exploration: “On this day in history in 2012, Voyager 1 became the first spacecraft to enter interstellar space. Launched in 1977, it was originally designed to study Jupiter and Saturn. After completing that, it continued traveling at 38,000 miles per hour, eventually entering interstellar” (August 25, 2025).
Later on August 25, Collins commented on challenges facing the trucking industry from his perspective as a long-time trucker: “I’ve been a trucker nearly my entire life, and I see how these folks are ruining our industry. If you are unable to communicate with law enforcement, read road signs, or understand basic laws, you have no business on our roads.”
Collins has represented Georgia’s 10th district since replacing Jody Hice in Congress in 2023. He won reelection against Lexy Doherty in the general election held in 2024 with approximately 63% of the vote and previously defeated Tabitha Johnson-Green with about 65% of votes during the 2022 election cycle.
