Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office reports armed robbery and shooting on Boardwalk

The Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office announced on March 24 that deputies responded to an armed robbery and shooting at a home in the 4000 block of Boardwalk in Conyers, Georgia, on March 15. Authorities said they received a call around 8:30 p.m. reporting an armed robbery, with further information indicating that someone at the scene had been struck in the head and was bleeding.

This incident is significant as it resulted in one person being hospitalized and another pronounced dead from gunshot wounds. The sheriff’s office said that upon arrival, deputies found one individual with head injuries who was transported to a local hospital in stable condition. Another person inside the house had sustained gunshot wounds and was declared dead at the scene.

During their investigation, law enforcement identified Ervin Spooner as a suspect. According to the sheriff’s office, Spooner was located early on March 16 at his residence in Hampton, Georgia. With help from the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive team, he was taken into custody without incident.

Spooner has been booked into Rockdale County Jail for felony murder charges. The sheriff’s office emphasized that this remains an open and ongoing investigation.
