3 Arrested in Denton Sex Offender Compliance Operation

Arrested

City of Denton issued the following announcement on Sept. 9

The Denton Police Department recently led a sex offender compliance check operation in coordination with the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) that has resulted in the arrest of three sex offenders so far.

The operation began on Aug. 1. Detectives and USMS task force officers visited residences and confirmed the registrations of 142 sex offenders in Denton on Aug. 30 and 31. As a result of the operation, three arrests were made, and four arrest warrants were obtained for sex offenders who have failed to comply with registration requirements. Denton PD detectives will continue to work on contacting sex offenders and serving warrants for violations.

Task force officers from multiple agencies contributed to this operation, including the Denton County Sheriff’s Office, Lewisville Police Department, Flower Mound Police Department, Texas Department of Public Safety, and Collin County Sheriff’s Office. Denton PD appreciates these agencies’ assistance in tracking down violators and holding them accountable.

Any tips regarding sex offender registration violations can be directed to Detective Richard Ortiz at (940) 349-7843.
