(Tuesday - Friday) APS Honors the Class of 2022 with
Commencement Ceremonies at Georgia Tech
More than 2,300 seniors, and their families, from 13 Atlanta Public Schools high schools will graduate during Commencement ceremonies this week at McCamish Pavilion, on the campus of Georgia Tech, beginning today.

City of Atlanta Offers Summer Employment Initiative for Atlanta’s Youth
The City of Atlanta Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) is a collective impact strategy spearheaded by Mayor André Dickens to engage Atlanta’s businesses, philanthropic community and community-based organizations in youth workforce development.
The goal is to “put 3,000 teens to work this summer!”

Long Middle School, Centennial Academy STEM Certification
Another Atlanta Public School and a district charter school have earned Cognia STEM certification as the school year comes to a close.
Crawford Long Middle School and Centennial Academy earned Cognia STEM certification! As a result of Long Middle School’s achievement, now all schools in the South Atlanta cluster are fully STEM certified.
The evaluation team from Cognia stated that the passion exhibited for STEM education by Long’s leadership, faculty, students, and partners was exemplary.
Centennial Academy is a K-8 charter school located near the campus of Georgia Tech. The Cognia evaluation team commended Centennial on having a STEM vision and a commitment to stakeholder support. They also commended them on “having STEM curriculum aligned to recognized standards/organized into interdisciplinary frameworks.”

APS, DeKalb Senior Baseball All-Stars to Battle in First APS-DeKalb Classic
A roster of 15 of the top senior baseball players in Atlanta Public Schools and DeKalb County Public Schools will face off in the first-ever DeKalb County-APS Senior Baseball All-Star Classic.
The nine-inning game is scheduled for Tuesday, May 31, 5:30 p.m., at Gresham Park (3113 Gresham Road, SE). Tickets are $7.
Team APS will be led by Benjamin E. Mays High School senior infielder Termarr Johnson, considered by many to be the top high school baseball prospect in the nation.
