The Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) held its regular meeting on Thursday, March 23, 2023. During the meeting, the HPC discuss several general topics, with a primary focus on the upcoming survey of historic resources that are contributing structures in the North Gaskin Historic District. 

The purpose of the Historic Preservation Committee is to establish a uniform procedure for use in providing the protection, enhancement, perpetuation, and use of places, districts, sites, buildings, structures, objects, and landscape features having a special historical, cultural, or aesthetic interest or value, in accordance with the Code of Ordinance.  All members reside in the City of Douglas and have demonstrated special interest, experience, or education in history, architecture, or the preservation of historic resources.  Current members are Kevin Davis (Chairman), Jim Cottingham (Vice-Chairman), Brenda Veal, Frankie Snow, Melissa Rowell, Georgia Henderson (Ex-Officio), Ebonee Dobson (Ex-Officio), and Alyssa Fussell (Secretary).
