FOIA Request Sent to Newton County Election Department Regarding Ballot Counting Methods on October 29, 2024

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Newton County Election Department in Georgia on October 29, 2024. The request, made by SE Atlanta News, a media organization committed to comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, sought specific information regarding the methods used for counting votes during elections.

The FOIA request specifically asked for a list of methods being used by the county's election department to count votes. If manual counting is employed, SE Atlanta News requested an estimated number of people who would be working on election night.
