FOIA Request Sent to Quitman County Election Department Regarding Ballot Counting Methods on October 29, 2024

FOIA Request to Quitman County Election Department Regarding Ballot Counting Methods on October 29, 2024.

SE Atlanta News, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, has sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Quitman County Election Department in Georgia. The request, made under the Georgia Open Records Act § 50.18.70 et seq., seeks information about the methods being used by the department to count votes in the upcoming election.

In particular, we are interested in whether the vote counting is being done manually or through electronic means. If it is being done manually, we have requested an estimate of the number of people who will be working on election night.

As a media organization committed to transparency and accountability in public institutions, we believe that access to this information is crucial for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. We have also requested a fee waiver as part of our FOIA request due to our role as a media professional.

We look forward to receiving a response from the Quitman County Election Department and will continue our efforts to keep the public informed about important local governmental affairs.
