FOIA Request Sent to Henry County Election Department Regarding Ballot Counting Methods on October 29, 2024

FOIA Request to Henry County Election Department Regarding Ballot Counting Methods on October 29, 2024.

As part of our commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at SE Atlanta News have submitted a request under the Georgia Open Records Act § 50.18.70 et seq., for records detailing the methods being used by the Henry County Election Department to count votes in the upcoming election.

In addition to this, if the ballots are being counted manually, we have requested an estimated number of people who will be working on election night. This information is crucial in understanding how our local government is managing the electoral process and ensuring its integrity.

We believe that access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities, which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we hope that our request will be granted promptly and without any fees.

We look forward to receiving this information from the Henry County Election Department and sharing it with our readers as part of our ongoing coverage of local governmental affairs.
