Amidst the changes in the Atlanta Falcons' offense this offseason, the offensive line has remained a constant. The team retained all five starters from last season and kept offensive line coach Dwayne Ledford, along with key reserves like Storm Norton, Ryan Neuzil, and Kyle Hinton. Offensive coordinator Zac Robinson praised their contribution: "They're the reason we are where we are in terms of being able to be efficient throwing the football."

Through nine weeks of the season, Atlanta ranks eighth in passing yards per play and 11th in rushing yards per play. This reflects the versatility of an offensive line previously seen as run-first. Changes to pass protection have resulted in a significant improvement, with Atlanta achieving the sixth-lowest sack rate among NFL offenses.

Ledford emphasized pride in both run blocking and pass protection: "When you show that you can do both then I think you got something pretty special." With veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins joining and a more pass-oriented scheme, expectations for increased passing have been met.

Left tackle Jake Matthews noted that Cousins manages in-game communication for the offensive line, differing from past systems where centers like Alex Mack handled checks at the line. Effective communication remains crucial: "The communication up front with the quarterback is just so important," said Ledford.

Despite injuries affecting continuity, reserves have filled roles effectively. Neuzil started six games at center with minimal disruptions. Head coach Raheem Morris commented on their adaptability: "Neuzil jumps in at center...and you didn't really notice."

Ledford introduced motivational tools such as a "finisher belt" to encourage downfield effort and teamwork among players. The skill position players' willingness to block has been vital for success outside tackles.

While there is room for improvement regarding pre-snap penalties, signs of growth were evident after reducing penalties against Dallas Cowboys. Ledford commended his players' determination: "I think these guys are letting no obstacle get in their way of what they want to achieve this year."
