There is a growing sense of optimism around the Atlanta Falcons' offense as Michael Penix Jr. enters his first offseason as the team's starting quarterback. Penix, who showed promise in his initial NFL starts, has expressed confidence in tight end Kyle Pitts, saying, "For him, it's believing in himself. For me, I'm going to believe in him."

Penix's performance has been notable; he finished 12th in EPA per dropback and helped the Falcons average over 27 points per game. His chemistry with teammates Bijan Robinson and Drake London was evident last season. Darnell Mooney also made a strong impression during his first year with the team.

A significant question for the Falcons concerns Pitts' role within the offense. The former No. 4 draft pick will enter his fifth year with only one 1,000-yard season so far. Pitts has worked with six different quarterbacks since joining Atlanta and is hoping to establish consistency with Penix.

The upcoming season will be crucial for Pitts as he seeks to solidify his position amidst a talented group of players including London and Mooney. Penix has already begun building rapport with his teammates and emphasized the importance of collaboration by stating, "I just talked to him the other day... It's like, 'Alright, I'm going to give you my all each and every day, and I want you to do the same.'"

During a promising stretch in early 2024, Pitts averaged four catches for 63 yards over six games but concluded the season with 47 receptions for 602 yards and four touchdowns. A pivotal moment came during an overtime loss to Washington when Penix connected with Pitts on a crucial fourth-and-goal play.

As they prepare for the new season, both players recognize their partnership's potential impact on Atlanta's success. Penix remarked on this connection: "At the end of the day, whenever he's open I've got to find him and get him the ball."
