The Atlanta Falcons have announced the re-signing of linebacker Josh Woods. This decision comes after Woods initially joined the team's practice squad early in the 2024 season. He was later promoted to the active roster by Week 17, having been elevated for three games prior. During his time on the field, Woods participated in five games, logging 89 snaps on special teams and recording one tackle.

Josh Woods began his NFL career as an undrafted free agent from the University of Maryland in 2019. He spent two full seasons with the Chicago Bears before joining the Detroit Lions during the 2021 season. Before moving to Atlanta, he played for the Arizona Cardinals, where he had a notable season in 2023. That year, Woods started seven games, achieved 61 tackles, forced a fumble, broke up a pass, and recorded half a sack.

The Falcons anticipate that Woods will contribute depth to their linebacker group during summer preparations and compete for a position on the final 53-man roster in the preseason.
