Born in Jackson, Georgia in 1967 and a graduate of Georgia State University, Collins has been active in his role since replacing Jody Hice in 2023.

On March 19, Rep. Mike Collins reflected on the anniversary of the Iraq War's commencement in 2003. "On #ThisDayInHistory in 2003, the war in Iraq began to eliminate weapons of mass destruction." He noted that despite initial successes such as toppling Saddam Hussein's regime and capturing major cities, an insurgency persisted.

Later that day, Collins announced a political initiative with Rep. Brandon Gill aimed at judicial accountability. "I've joined with @RepBrandonGill to hold rogue federal judges accountable." They have filed for the impeachment of Judge James Boasberg, whom they label as a radical activist for allegedly not enforcing the rule of law.

In another tweet posted on March 19, Collins criticized certain federal judges' conduct from his perspective. "We have sitting federal judges quoting the musical Hamilton instead of the Constitution." He characterized these judges as radical activists who are unfit for their positions on the bench.
