Rep. Mike Collins comments on tort reform bill passage

Rep. Mike Collins, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Georgia's 10th district since 2023, has recently shared his views on several issues through a series of tweets. Collins, who succeeded Jody Hice, was born in Jackson, Georgia in 1967 and graduated from Georgia State University in 1990.

On March 20, 2025, Rep. Mike Collins praised the efforts of Governor Kemp and Speaker Jon Burns for their work on passing SB 68. He stated that this legislative move is "a great step forward in delivering tort reform that will save Georgians thousands per year," emphasizing its potential to stabilize courts and improve tax dollar usage. "Great work to @GovKemp and Speaker @JonBurnsGA on passing SB 68."

Later that day, Collins expressed his support for an Executive Order by President Biden aimed at reducing federal involvement in education. He criticized the federal government's role in schools as a failure and advocated for returning control to parents, states, and communities. "The federal government’s involvement in schools has been a failure and never should have started."

On March 21, 2025, Rep. Collins reflected on historical events by noting the closure of Alcatraz Prison on this day in history back in 1963. He described Alcatraz as a maximum-security facility known for its harsh conditions and reputation as being nearly impossible to escape from during its peak operation period in the 1950s when it housed over 200 inmates.
