Younghoe Koo is determined to reclaim his status as one of the top kickers in the league after a challenging 2024 season. Reflecting on last year’s performance, Koo stated, “I mean, not sugar coating, it was the worst season of my life,” during the Falcons’ first practice at AT&T Training Camp.

Koo started strong in 2024, making his first nine kicks and securing a victory with a career-long 58-yard field goal against the New Orleans Saints. However, inconsistency and injury cut his season short. Head coach Raheem Morris acknowledged the need for improvement in kicking, stating, “We missed entirely too many kicks this year… That can’t happen.”

Koo ended the season with a 73.5% success rate on field goals, sparking questions about his future with the team. In response, Atlanta signed German kicker Lenny Krieg to provide competition for Koo.

Despite these challenges, Koo feels physically prepared and confident in his abilities. He expressed his readiness to return to form: “I’m ready to get back to what I know what I’m capable of: being the best in the league.”

Morris also expressed confidence in Koo’s potential comeback: “I’ve got so much confidence in Younghoe because I started with him… I’ve seen him battle through adversity.”

Koo appreciates the support from coaches and teammates but remains focused on earning his spot amid competition. As he prepares for the upcoming season, Koo emphasizes learning from past experiences: “You have a bad season, cool. You just learn from it.”
