City of Hampton issued the following announcement on Aug. 23
A record number of homes were sold in Hampton in July — 296. That’s the highest number since in at least seven years, according to numbers compiled by the Real Estate Information Network.
Sales prices continued to climb as well. July’s residential median sales price was $224,000, a 24.9% increase of the previous July, and a slight dip from June’s $239,000, which was the highest median sales price for any month in at least seven years.
Hampton’s numbers echo those of the Hampton Roads region.
“The limited number of listings as compared to last year indicates that supply is still lagging and is keeping us in a seller’s market,” notes REIN President of the Board Harry Cross. “This also tells us why the average price keeps climbing — more demand than supply.”
