FAQs

Please find the answers to many of the commonly asked questions below. If you still have a question, please reach out to Sharolyn Ketchup, PSAT Testing Administrator.

Q: Do I need to sign my child up to take the PSAT?

A: No, all enrolled students in grades 9-11 will participate in the PSAT, if they choose.

 

Q: Do I need to notify you if my child is not going to take the PSAT?

A: No, there is no need to notify the PSAT coordinator if your child will not be taking the PSAT

 

Q: Is this test mandatory?

A: No, the PSAT is a practice assessment for the SAT and is not required. If you choose for your child not to participate, you may use the following link to have your student prepare for the SAT with Khan Academy.

 

Q: Is there a make-up test opportunity if I miss the October 25 test?

A: No, there will not be any make-up testing.

 

Q: Will there be early dismissal?

A: Yes, students will be dismissed at 12:30 unless they are testing with accommodations. Parents of students who are testing with accommodations will receive an email informing them of the pickup time for those students.

 

Q: Will the busses be providing transportation?

A: Yes, students can ride the bus before and after school. Students testing with accommodations will not complete testing in time to ride the bus and must make arrangements for transportation.

 

Q: Will lunch be provided?

A: Yes, there will be a grab and go lunch for students.

Q: What time should my student report to school?

A: All students should plan to arrive on campus by 8 a.m.

 

Q: Where is my student testing?

A: All students/parents will receive an email informing them of their student’s testing location. Please be sure to take a snapshot of the room number, as this will probably be different from your child’s regular advisement room.

Q: What should my student bring for testing?

A: Students should plan to bring two #2 pencils and an acceptable calculator. Cell phone calculators cannot be used during testing.
