The Henry County Water Authority (HCWA) is set to celebrate its annual Customer Appreciation Week from March 17-21, coinciding with the national Fix A Leak Week. This event aims to express gratitude to customers and promote water conservation.
During this week, HCWA Customer Service Representatives will provide water conservation tips and distribute free water efficiency items and HCWA merchandise while supplies last. National Fix A Leak Week, scheduled for March 17-23, 2025, is an initiative by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to highlight the importance of addressing household water leaks. It aligns with World Water Day on March 22.
Household leaks can waste up to 1 trillion gallons of water annually across the nation, averaging nearly 10,000 gallons per household. Common issues include worn toilet flappers and dripping faucets, which are easy and inexpensive to fix.
In addition to Customer Appreciation activities, HCWA will host an Art Contest for local students in grades K-12. Students from public schools, private schools, and home-school settings in Henry County are invited to participate by submitting original artwork limited to drawings of size 11x17 inches using traditional art materials.
Winners in four age categories (grades K-2nd, 3rd-5th, 6th-8th, and 10th-12th) will receive $100 gift cards. Additionally, a drawing will award $100 to one teacher whose students enter the contest.
Artwork submissions will be accepted at HCWA Headquarters from March 17 through March 21 during business hours (8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.). Entries can be mailed or delivered in person to Henry County Water Authority; Attn: Kaylan Peek; at their McDonough address.
A new feature this year is the "People’s Choice Award," allowing HCWA customers to vote on their favorite artwork on Monday, March 24 at the headquarters.
