The Atlanta Dream announced the completion of their 2025 coaching staff, introducing Chelsea Lyles and Camryn Brown as assistant coaches under Head Coach Karl Smesko. Lyles and Brown previously worked with Smesko at Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) before transitioning to the Dream. They join existing assistant coaches Brandi Poole and LaToya Sanders, who were added to the team earlier in January.

At FGCU, Lyles was promoted to Head Coach for the 2024-25 season, leading the team to a 30-3 overall record, with an unbeaten 18-0 in the Atlantic Sun Conference play. Under her guidance, the Eagles secured their ninth consecutive ASUN Tournament title and a 14 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Lyles was subsequently named ASUN Coach of the Year. Her 16-year legacy at FGCU includes achievements as both a player and an assistant coach, with expertise in player development and recruiting.

Camryn Brown also brings significant experience from FGCU, having served as an assistant coach for three seasons there. She previously held a coaching position at West Virginia State University for two seasons. Brown is noted for her successful collegiate playing career at High Point University, where she received Big South Player of the Year and Scholar-Athlete honors.

“Chelsea is an exceptional basketball mind with a profound ability to connect with players on a human level,” said Smesko. “She knows how to bring out the best in them, and her adaptability and leadership will be a tremendous asset to our team.”

Expressing her gratitude, Lyles commented, “I’m so thankful for this amazing opportunity to work with Coach Smesko again and to join the Atlanta Dream family. I’m excited to contribute my passion and energy to a staff, team and organization that are committed to excellence and growth. Can’t wait to get to work.”

Smesko also praised Brown's qualities, remarking, “Camryn brings incredible energy, intelligence, and work ethic to everything she does. She’s highly self-motivated and has a great knowledge of the game. Her presence will only strengthen our culture in Atlanta.”

Brown shared her excitement about the move, stating, “I’m thrilled to rejoin Coach Smesko in Atlanta. The athletes, staff and front office have already been incredible to work with and I’m eager to contribute and grow as a coach in the WNBA.”

Both coaches are expected to bring their extensive experience, familiarity with Smesko’s coaching approach, and a solid track record of success as they work to advance the Atlanta Dream.

Established in 2008, the Atlanta Dream is the only WNBA franchise in the Southeast, hosting games at the Gateway Center Arena in College Park. The team's achievements include producing 11 WNBA All-Stars, three first-place regular-season finishes, 10 playoff bids, and three WNBA finals appearances.
