Rep. Mike Collins, currently serving Georgia’s 10th district in the U.S. Congress, expressed his views on different historical and political incidents through a series of tweets on April 18, 2025. Collins, who succeeded Jody Hice in 2023, has been a vocal member of Congress representing his constituents and sharing his perspectives on both historical events and current political affairs.

In a tweet posted on April 18, 2025, Collins criticized the actions of a U.S. Senator, describing their consolation of an MS-13 gang member as "traitorous." The tweet links to a video that, purportedly, captures the incident in question.

Reflecting on a significant historical moment, Collins reminded his followers of General George Washington's announcement marking the end of hostilities with Britain on this day in 1783. Collins recounted how Washington celebrated by giving troops an extra ration of liquor to toast "Perpetual Peace, Independence, and Happiness to the United."

In a third tweet, posted later the same day, Collins observed the religious significance of Good Friday. He noted that Good Friday marks the crucifixion of Jesus, a time when all seemed lost but was followed by the hope of resurrection, indicating the coming of Sunday. He included a Biblical reference: “But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on.”

Mike Collins, born in Jackson, Georgia, has been active in the political scene since taking office in 2023, representing his district's interests.
