Enrollment in Henry County School District increased over previous year

The only school district in Henry County had rising enrollment in the 2022-23 school year, according to the Georgia Department of Education.

There were 42,915 students in the halls of Henry County School District, 1.3% more than the year before.

Enrollment in Henry County bucked the state's trend compared to the state's trend of decreasing enrollment.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 51% of them were male, and 49% were female.

Data also showed that most of the students were Black, representing 62% of the Henry County School District's total enrollment.

Henry County School District has a main office in McDonough and is the only school district within Henry County.

According to the Georgia Department of Education, over 1.6 million students were enrolled in Georgia's public schools during the 2021-22 school year. The state boasted a diverse and closely distributed student body across grade levels, with roughly 44% of the students in elementary, 24.5% in middle school, and 31.5% in high schools.

The state also registered an ethnically diverse student body, with 34.4% of the students identified as white, 36.5% as Black, 17.1% as Hispanic, and 4.5% as Asian.
