The Atlanta Dream has signed Ashley Joens to a training camp contract, as announced by the organization. Joens, standing at 6-foot-1 and hailing from Iowa City, Iowa, had an impressive collegiate career at Iowa State University. She became the program's all-time leading scorer with 3,060 points, placing her ninth in NCAA Division I women's basketball history. Additionally, she holds school records for rebounds (1,391), field goals made (988), three-pointers made (344), and free throws made (740). Joens was honored with the Cheryl Miller Award three times and was named Big 12 Player of the Year in 2023.

Joens was picked 19th overall in the 2023 WNBA Draft by the Dallas Wings. During that season, she played for the Dallas Wings, Las Vegas Aces, and Phoenix Mercury in a total of 19 games. Currently playing overseas with Athinaikos AS Vurona in Greece's Women's Basketball League, she averages 16.2 points per game.

"Ashley is a talented scorer and consistent shooter," said Atlanta Dream General Manager Dan Padover. "Her versatility and competitiveness will be valuable as we head into training camp."

The Atlanta Dream's training camp starts in April. The team will begin its regular season on May 16 against the Washington Mystics at CareFirst Arena in Washington D.C., starting at 7:30 p.m. ET.

Founded in Atlanta in 2008, the Atlanta Dream is noted as the Southeast’s only WNBA franchise. Home games are held at Gateway Center Arena @ College Park and are broadcast locally on Peachtree TV and Peachtree Sports Network throughout Georgia. Since its inception in 2009, the team has produced multiple WNBA All-Stars and achieved significant milestones including playoff appearances and finals participation.
