The Atlanta Falcons are looking to enhance their red-zone offense, which ranked 20th last season with a success rate of 54.7%. One potential solution is signing free agent wide receiver Nick Westbrook-Ikhine when the market opens on March 12, marking the start of the new league year.
Westbrook-Ikhine, who had a standout year in 2024 with the Tennessee Titans, achieved career highs with 497 receiving yards and nine touchdowns. His nine receiving touchdowns tied for ninth in the NFL despite having fewer targets (60) and receptions (32) than other top players. For instance, Ja'Marr Chase of the Cincinnati Bengals had 17 touchdowns from 175 targets and 127 receptions.
While Westbrook-Ikhine was not the Titans' primary wideout—Calvin Ridley held that position—he surpassed Ridley's four touchdowns with more than double that number. Notably, six of Westbrook-Ikhine's nine touchdowns were scored in the red zone.
The Falcons' offense scored a total of 43 touchdowns last season, with 29 occurring within the red zone. Of those, only 12 were passing touchdowns. Drake London led the team with seven red-zone touchdown catches, while tight end Kyle Pitts contributed two.
The WR3 position saw competition during training camp between Ray-Ray McCloud III and Rondale Moore until Moore's season-ending knee injury. McCloud secured his role but faced competition as injuries highlighted the need for depth.
Nick Westbrook-Ikhine could provide this depth if signed by Atlanta. Standing at 6-foot-2 and weighing 211 pounds, he offers an option between London's size and Mooney's speed without sacrificing end-zone efficiency.
